Platform built together with the Government of Cochabamba to register, refer and follow up on cases of school violence — with AI assistance and machine learning to understand patterns of violence at the regional level.
PIES (Comprehensive Safe Schools Platform) — known as Alerta Escolar — is an initiative developed jointly with the Government of Cochabamba so that the department's schools can register, refer and follow up on cases of school violence in a standardized way. The platform uses AI to assist in drafting and classifying reports, and machine learning to identify patterns and trends at the regional level. Every case goes through a unified flow (Registered → Risk Assessed → Referred → Protection Plan → Follow-up → Resolved → Closed), with automatic referral to DNA, SLIM, FELCN or Salud depending on the case analysis. It includes multi-school management, a resource library of the Peaceful and Harmonious Coexistence Plan, audit, alerts, quick reports and chat sessions — all under the same confidential environment available 24/7.
Cochabamba lacked a single, standardized and confidential channel for schools to register and refer cases of school violence — reports got lost between institutions (DNA, SLIM, FELCN, Salud) and there was no way to measure what was happening at the regional level or to learn from patterns to prevent them.
We built PIES as a multi-school platform with a standardized 7-stage case flow, automatic referral to the right institution based on the incident analysis, a public library of the Peaceful and Harmonious Coexistence Plan, a super-admin panel with metrics by school and role, and an AI engine that assists with drafting and classification plus machine learning to detect regional patterns of violence.
